A number of Ibbotson Investment Trusts were leaders in the implemented consulting market, according to the February 2011 Chant West Implemented Consulting Survey.
The Ibbotson Australian Shares High Alpha Trust was the best-performing option in the Australian Shares category over the two years to 28 February 2011, recording a 31.1 percent return. The High Alpha Trust is a multi-manager portfolio of boutique fund managers selected for their potential alpha-generating ability.
Also performing strongly were the Ibbotson International Shares High Opportunities Trust, and the Ibbotson International Shares Active Trust. The High Opportunities Trust was the top-performing option in the International Shares (Unhedged) category over both the one and two years to 28 February 2011, returning 12.1 percent over the year and 14.5 percent per annum over the two years. The International Shares High Opportunities Trust was also the second-best-performing option over the three years. The International Shares Active Trust was in second place among 19 funds over the year to 28 February 2011 (11.0 percent), and in third place over the two- and three-year periods.
The Ibbotson International Shares High Opportunities Trust is a high-conviction multi-manager portfolio offering access to specialist investment managers not ordinarily available to Australian investors. The current line-up comprises Altrinsic, Axiom, Marathon, and Sands Capital. The International Shares Active Trust's assets are managed by AQR and Dimensional, and the Trust also has an allocation to the International Shares High Opportunities portfolio.
"These very strong results are testament to our well-established investment process of combining specialist investment managers with varying investment styles," said Ibbotson Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer Daniel Needham. "We'll continue to focus our efforts on rigorous investment manager research and selection to deliver highly-competitive returns for our clients going forward."
